The Department of History aims to make the students aware of their past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in regional history in the context of Indian history and history of the world, making responsible citizens who can play an active role in connecting the past with future in various socio-cultural aspects though various performing arts, cultural fests etc. This department runs on the object of building dynamic citizenship embedded with the national spirit, technical awareness and ready for employment in future job market. Thrust area of research:

(2) Industrial Development in Odisha
(3) Odia Nationalism
(4) History of Modern Odisha.
